Bankhead Farm Guest Book

Visitors Reviews

“Wish I’d stayed longer!”

I really couldn’t fault this B&B and wished I had been able to stay longer than the two nights. The room was spotless and as good as any 4star hotel but with much better views. The breakfast was just perfect and I intend on coming back here one day.

“A superb B&B”

Several members of my family stayed here whilst attending a wedding at a nearby hotel. Bankhead is situated in the most beautiful countryside and the accommodation is lovely. Fantastic views from the rooms and all are beautifully furnished with good sized bathrooms. I have stayed in several B&Bs and this is outstanding. Rob and Heather are lovely hosts and the food is amazing. We really didn’t want to come home as we had such a wonderful time. We would definitely recommend this to anyone who would like a peaceful stay but with easy access to several places. As well as the bedrooms, guests have the use of a spacious lounge with games, DVD etc and there are walks in the grounds. We would definitely like to return.

“A decent night’s sleep and wonderful breakfast”

We chose this place because of its rating and we weren’t disappointed. It’s a little further than the sat-nav reckons, but keep going, you’ll find it.
The room was spacious and well equipped with a decent shower.
You also have access to a guest lounge, which has big sofas, large TV, decent hi-fi and board games. The panoramic views around the surrounding countryside are lovely.
We stayed in a separate self-contained area, which had a fully fitted kitchen – though there’s no need of it if you’re just B&B-ing.
Breakfast was provided in the other half of the farm – across the courtyard. This area was also fitted and furnished to a high standard.
There was the usual selection of cereals and fruit, plus a selection of cooked-to-order hot food. We had scrambled egg & smoked salmon and “the full monty”, both of which were good and filling.
The hosts were very hospitable, pleasant and suggested good places to eat in the evening.
If we needed to stay near Edinburgh again, we’d certainly return, as it was good value for money.

“Perfect!”

Booked the last minute after another booking fell through and so glad it did – It is a wonderful place and lives up to its great reviews. The photos on the website don’t do it justice – We stayed in a twin room in the byre and had the place to ourselves, include the sitting room with a real log fire and a dinning room and kitchen. I stayed in one afternoon and it was brilliant watching the weather roll in across the hills. Great advice on nearby places to eat and things to see and do. The cooked breakfast was excellent (not to mention addictive). We had a wonderful time and I am sure we will be back next time we are up that way!

“First class B & B”

I have been staying at Bankhead for about six or seven years when I visit the area in late August.
Robert and Heather run an excellent B & B that suits me perfectly, because I prefer not to live in someone’s house.
The accommodation is all self-contained and every room is fitted out to a very high standard. Housekeeping is of a similar high quality.
All rooms have hot drinks facilities and, although rooms do not have fridges, there is a large one in the kitchen where cold drinks etc, can be kept.
There is a large lounge with views across the farm. There is also a dining room and an adjacent kitchen. All can be used by all guests.
Because the farm is located at the end of an access road a little distance from the nearest town, guests are assured of a quiet night’s sleep with no traffic noise.
The breakfast room has views across the fields in the opposite direction from the lounge.
Breakfast itself will not disappoint. There is a wide range of cereals, yoghurts and dried fruits, plus an extensive list of cooked items. If you like haggis for breakfast, order it the night before, as I do! If all that’s not enough, there is as much toast and preserves as you can want as well as tea or coffee.
I would recommend Bankhead Farm to anyone who wants casual, but good quality accommodation. My next visit in August 2014 is already booked.
